Local Student Wins 2017 Most Valuable Student Contest

Righetti High School student Zoi Urban has been named Top Female Student of the Year by Elks National Foundation. Ms. Urban was proudly sponsored by Elks Lodge 1538. She will receive a $50,000 scholarship from ENF along with Colin Norick, the Top Male Student from Montana.

Ms. Urban volunteers countless hours tutoring students, working with the Fighting Back Partnership that promotes creating healthy, safe and thriving communities, volunteers with Special Olympics at the Southern California Regional Games, and is active with the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County. Passionate about the arts, Ms. Urban is also active with theater, overseeing local children’s theater and dance productions.

Both students will receive their awards at the Elks Grand Lodge National Convention in Reno, Nevada July 14-17.
