40 Bicycles donated to local area youth

Once again Santa Maria Elks Lodge #1538 leads the way in supporting our community. The Lodge purchased 40 bicycles for local area fosters children. The Elks purchased the bikes with an ENF promise grant of $2500. The bikes were assembled by Charlie Castillo, Cliff Scoles and others.

Assisting the Elks in distributing and adjusting the bikes was the county office of Children’s Welfare Services, Ken – the owner of Bici Centro ( a local non-profit business in Santa Maria) and the Righetti Warriors Football team.

The Elks also provided a nice hamburger and french fry lunch to all in attendance free of charge. The promise grant will remain in effect for the next 4 years. We look forward to supporting our youth in future years.

Santa Maria Elks Golf Committee Chair Hank Rickett presents a check of $1000.00 to Julia Puschek of The First Tee Central Coast.

The First Tee is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people. Through after school and in school programs, they help shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf. And it’s making a difference.

That is why the Santa Maria Elks Golf Committee has supported First Tee Central Coast for the last two years.  Support like this enables First Tee Central Coast to provide financial aid to 60% of the boys and girls participating in their programs at 13 golf courses from Carpenteria to Morro Bay.
