“Elvis, the Memphis Years” was a terrific night enjoyed by 400 guests from as far away as Walnut Creek! We all remembered the “good ol’ days” with the wonderful voice and performance of Jeremy Pearce – who holds 5th Place in Elvis impersonations in the Nation.
The BBQ chicken breast dinner started this evening off with broccoli salad, vegetables, beans, au gratin potatoes, rolls and carrot cake.
Proceeds of this event were dedicated to the PER Association to support the Delta High School Scholarship Program.
The spring craft faire was held March 2017 with over 45 vendors showing their wares. This event, open to the public, included a wide variety of items available for purchase: jewelry, clothing, crocheted items, bags, wooden items, food, essential oils, kitchen items, and much more. Many door prizes were awarded to those in attendance. Patrons and vendors donated non-perishable food for the Food Bank of Santa Maria in exchange for an additional door prize ticket. Pioneer Valley Drama Club had food available for purchase and the students did a terrific job emceeing. The next scheduled craft faire is set for November 15, 2017. Mark your calendar and we’ll see you there!

Obviously some of the items do not apply, while others do. Walk around puddles that have formed around the Lodge (you never know how deep they really are). Take the extra step and be careful on slick surfaces.
Check out our safety newsletters for seasonal reminders.

Elks Lodge 1538 is a proud member of CHEA or the California-Hawaii Elks Association. One of a Lodge’s commitments is to participate in CHEA’s Major Project. With 171 lodges in 19 Districts (including the Islands of Guam and the Philippines), and roots back to 1868, CHEA’s Purple Pig is the fundraising arm that serves disabled children, veterans, and youth in a wide range of activities. Member Lodges are encouraged to fill their Purple Pig regularly, with funds being submitted to CHEA; new Elks receive their Purple Pig at initiation!

Chili’s Major Project Fudraiser
16, 2018. Chili’s Give-Back, a Major Project Fundraiser event, will donate 15% of the price of a meal to our Major Project. Last year’s event raised $5,415, Let’s beat that this year!
To donate online directly to CHEA, click this secure link. At Lodge 1538, members who commit a “faux pax” (such as a gentleman not holding a door open for his lady) have to contribute to the Lodge’s Purple Pig… and although they learn quickly, it seems members don’t mind making contributions to that Pig! Visit the CHEA site here: https://chea-elks.org/
Lodge 1538 is a long-time supporter of the Great Heart of Elkdom, the Elks National Foundation or ENF. The mission of ENF is to help Elks build stronger communities by investing in communities where Elks live and work. They help youth develop lifelong skills, send students to college (like Righetti High School Student Zoi Urban, who was nominated Most Valuable Student of the Year in 2017, winning a $50k scholarship), meet the needs of today’s veterans, support the charitable work of state Elks associations, and fund projects that improve the quality of life in local Elks communities. Lodge 1538 holds raffles at every Lodge meeting in support of ENF – and if an Elk makes a contribution in the Lodge office to ENF, they receive an ENF Heart on their membership card, qualifying them to receive a bonus if they win a raffle! Visit the Elks National Foundation website here, and don’t forget to get an ENF heart on your membership card!
